need help w/ O2 sensor
I have a 91 integra. The O2 sensor is mounted at the top runner of the exhaust manifold. I just picked up a jdm ctr manifold and the O2 bung is on the collector just before the cat. I need to know if just lengthening the wire for the O2 sensor and putting it down there will be ok or if it will throw codes or anything.
I was told that the O2 sensor I have is a 1 wire type, and must be heated by the engine to work properly. What I need is a 4 wire sensor that will heat itself up to the proper temp and run the other 3 wires to wherever they're supposed to go. I've never heard of this before so can someone verify this to me and tell what I need to do?? TIA

If your engine harness uses a 1 wire O2 sensor, you can just use a 1 wire O2 sensor, you can lengthen the wire, just solder the connections for insurance. The 4 wire sensors operate more efficiently, but as said, the 1 wire sensor just has to be heated by the engine to read properly, if it's cold, you run rich.

Thanks, that's reassuring. But, is it going to heat sufficiently under the car as opposed to up where it was designed to be?
Also, I was really wondering what type of wiring to use to lengthen it. And what gauge wire? Thanks again.

or if all else fails contact the company that makes it and ask them if they make a harness adapter...
i had the same problem and i emailed airmass and asked them if they had an extension peice and they did... so now i am just waiting for mine in the mail....
so check with the company first cause i had the same conserns with mine on my civic cause it is the same way with the o2 sensor on the top of the mainfold and now on the aftermarket its down by the cat
