Default Help anyone?? Fuel problem

wassup everyone well here it is,
I got this car a 1990 honda Civic DX (4 door) for $400 with 90,000 miles on it. When i start the car from a cold start It starts rite up on the 1st crank, But i noticed it didn't start 1 day after I shut it off and this problem persisted after i shut it off it will not start untill basicaly it's ready. After i start the car and let it idle and i step on the gas the motor accelarates but i notice a flat spot when i continue to step on the gas (like a hesitation or buck). So i took the car around the block and that's exactly what it does, sometimes at no particluar idle or at same place every time but only when gas is being stepped on. It's a (hestation or a buck). The car has been sitting for over a yr or so, Is it possible to have condinsation in the fuel tank that is making it to do this? The car hasn't been driven for more then a half a tank of gas. I think it's either the fuel pump or the fuel injectors (I think this model DPFI has only 2 fuel injectors.) Can it be the fuel regulator that is under the hood mounted on the firewall? Can it have a fouled plug or fuel injector, but like i said it doesn't do it every rotation of the crankshaft (such as in the firing order.) It's getting a spark when it doesn't start. I'm a backyard mechaninic, all i got is my tools and my Chilton Repair Manual. It's easy to fix something if you know what the problem is but in this case I dont know where to start? Sorry for posting this in more then one place but i need a way to troubleshoot this. Any advice anyone?

Does the starting problem only happen when the engine is warm? As in, you have recently turned the motor off and want to turn it back on again, but it won't? If that's the case it's most likely a gunked up fuel filter. You also could be having issues with the injectors and possibly the pump.

The first thing I would do is check to see if the fuel pump is turning on when the car won't start. Have someone turn the key to the ON position but don't start the car and stick your ear up to the fuel filler (yeah I know, you'll feel like an idiot doing it ) to listen for a noise. The pump should run for two seconds when the key is turned.

If the pump is switching on I would then replace the fuel filter and run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through the next tank of gas.
