Default info about hondata kit on jdm itr

i'd like info from anyone that would have a JDM ITR engine in their car with a hondata kit for that engine.

i'm thinking about getting a hondata kit and am wondering if it would be worth it with that engine.

what i'd like to know is if the results once tuned were worthwhile given the cost of the kit.

Thanks for any info

well you would have to do an obd2 to obd1 conversion, from my understanding you can not run Hondata on obd2 motors

that is something i was aware of and was figuring on getting a hondata chipped ECU for my engine at the same time as i get the control box and such. Thanks for the reply though, any info in appreciated

What i'm looking for is what kind of results people are getting with that kit on a mostly stock ITR

all i have is I/H/E on the motor. i have no plans to put FI on it, just want to tune it as well as possible. i do plan to tune it on a dyno though to get the most i can on what i have.

Must admit it is already rather fun to drive a stock looking on the outside 4door civic with ITR engine and tranny hidden under the hood

Its a good investment. You will see some gains overstock ecu but nothin spectacular. I'd run a chipped p28 with the s100 unit. It will be cheap and easy to get and if or when you get cams you will already have equipment to tune them.

a lot of people seem pleased with just the vafc for tuning on their NA cars. I don't know of many running Hondata on their mostly stock cars.

Check the pricing of VAFC against the basic Hondata setup, if their is a major price difference go with the cheapest one, if the pricing is similar I'd spend the little bit extra for the Hondata. I believe you can adjust your ignition timing on the Hondata, while you can only do fuel map changes on the VAFC's. I could be wrong there.

Thanks for all the info

reason i'm leaning to the hondata kit is all the extras you have the possibility of doing

some of the ones i like most are the vtec controler, launch controler and such.

not to mention having the ability to connect a laptop to it and have a recording or what my car is doing during a run to see what i have to improve on and such
