Default swaps

i have a 98 hatchback black and i just took out the b18 engine i wanna know which is faster without turbo nos or supercharger a h22 or h23 engine

the H22A is a much more powerful engine. The H23 has a *touch* more torque, but the H22 has higher compression, higher redline, better flowing head and a better tranny.

The H22A will be faster for the reasons stated above. The H23A may have slightly more torque, but it will probably be very hard to notice (the displacement difference is far smaller than say that of a B16A vs B18C). The H23A will be much cheaper and easier to locate however.

yeah, the difference in torque is only like 5'lbs, whereas the difference in power is up to 50hp depending on the motor. Definitely get the h22a if you can.

If you can find one, try to score one of those late model JDM Accord H23A's. They come stock with a DOHC VTEC head.

Mind you, those are rare and command a good premium.
