my friend has a 89 integra with a d16a1 and wants to put pistons on his car the only pistons are for a d16a6 will the pistons work if they got the same bore and should he stay with the oem head gasket or go with a 1 or 2 layer gasket

D16A6 sized pistons should work fine, they have the same basic block config. The wrist pins should also be the same size, IIRC.

If he wants higher compression, throw in some ZC pistons. Cheap, and they work.

Dude...punctuation is a beautiful thing.

Are you putting A6 pistons into an A1? Or the other way around?

Putting A1 pistons into an A6 will yield roughly 11.5:1 compression.

Putting A6 pistons into an A1 will yield really low compression. You'll be running less than 8:1. Even for a turbo, that's too low.

A6 and A1 pistons use the same rods and wrist pins. Not sure about the rings.
