Default Oil Leaking Out Cylinder

My freind and I took out the spark plug of the #1 cylinder, and found the plug to be slightly covered in oil. We left the plug out, and when we turn the engine, oil "squirts" out the hole. Is this due to a bad piston ring? The car does start after we clean the plug, but then it would start to boggle and die again. The engine is a B18CR, w/JRSC. Thanks.

A blown ring will not allow oil to "squirt" out of the cylinder... a hole in the piston would... what's that cylinder's compression?

But if there was a hole in the piston, would the engine run? We havent done a compression test yet, but tryin to get that done asap.

An engine can run on just one cylinder, not well... but it *could* run.

Any idea as to how much this would cost? I have the same problem too.
