Default h22 Civic

~95 Hatch with an H22 swap.

I was a thte track last night and a guy was racing it. His only complaint was problems with getting enough traction to run decent times... but he was still running in the mid 8's (1/8th mile track). He was also bottle fed.

My question is, why don't you hear of this more then a B18 swap??

Because a B18 swap is quite a bit easier, and a B18A/B swap is quite a bit cheaper, too.

FWIW, I ran at a 1/4 track lined up against a turbo'd H22A swapped Civic. Of course he beat me, but he was only in the high 14's to low 15's, he must have sucked at driving it.

yea, he must have, because a boosted h22 in a civic should be in the low 13s, high 12s, depending on how much boost is on it. a friend of mine has a 98 turbo prelude and he's making 330whp. hasnt run it yet unfortunately.

H22 swap needs new mounts and a lot of cutting and other crap to get the engine in.
A lot of people think the car won't handle the same with it while others say it's fine.

Like RiceBurninVTEC said check out Honda-Tech.
It's a wicked swap though imo.

It is a very tight squeeze for the h22. Met a guy this weekend with one in a 93 hatch. His power sterring pump was about a inch or soo from front metal support, i believe you call it the raditor support. Did not have any ac, know way you can have ac with that swap, no room in the engine compartment. He said his best time was a 13.8 in the 1/4, that is with a jspec h22 all stock except for a dc sport header and a vafc, also was using stock air box and full interior. Cool swap if you got time and money.

You can have A/C actually.
Few guys on H-T sell brackets to mount up the A/C stuff.

great swap for a budget drag car. H22 makes A LOT more torque than any B-series motor, and has pretty much just as much aftermarket potential.
