installing short shifter

today i was installing my short shifter that i just bought and everything was good until i was going to put my exhaust heat sheild back on and the shifter was hitting the heat sheild what should i do

Verify that the shifter is installed correctly and you bought the correct one for your car? :dunno:

Yeah check to see if you got the right stuff and if its installed right. if thats all good the bend the heat shield. You gotta do what you gotta do!
