Actually I'm from Rockville but I go to school in Wisconsin.

I don't have any direct experience with Tischer Acura, so I can't say good or bad about them. From what I've heard it seems like most Acura dealers in the DC area are pretty good in terms of their service departments.

If you want to make the drive to Rocvkille, there's this shop called Motor Works that specializes in Hondas and Acuras but they mainly present themselves as an alternative to a dealer service department and I'm not sure whether they'll look at a modified car such as yours. I've taken assorted cars there over the years and they've always served me well. If you call em up and let em know the general area of the problem you're having and also what mods the car has, they should be able to tell ya if they'll look at it.

Well, I tried to solve the problem but have was unable to figure it out. I am going to drop the car off tomorow. However, I noticed something that I am soooo hoping is not a major problem. Whenever the car was started, light smoke would constantley come out the exhaust, which smelled like burning oil. I took out all four spark plugs, and each plug seemed to be "wet", which felt and smelled like oil. I took a flashlight and looked in each cylinder, and noticed all four pistons had "liquid", possibly oil on top of them. Would this be an indication that all four pistons need the rings to be replaced?? Have not done a compression test, no tool for it. Or could it be something else? Anyway, thanks for the help again.

Got a call from the dealer today, and not good news at all . They told me that all piston rings need to be replaced, and quoted me a price of 2g's. Im thinking of doing this myself, and had one question. Ive seen it done before, but was wondering if I just need to put the new rings on, or if anything else needs to be done? Thanks.

about the fluctuating idle. i have seen many times when a small screw on the end of the plunger inside the IACV would back it's self out, causing exactly what you described. happened twice to me.

and about the rings. when you put the new ones in, hone the cylinder walls, so they seat correctly. and replace all the rubber gaskets that you possibly can.

what XSracing said...first try to adjust your IACV if that isnt it, check for vacume leaks. a big one is the throttle body. Also, on your ICV theres a rubber plunger which can make its way loose, that might be a problem. (thats a last resort though)
