ecu or piggyback???
Looking to purchace either one of the following ecu/piggyback systems (GReddy e-Manage, Hondata S200 Systems, or Apex-i v-afc) and was wondering which one is more "tunner friendly" or cost effective if plannig to add more tunnig parts. They are all around the same price and I don't want to waste time or espesially money getting the right one for my current app. I/H/E and sk2 IMF.
The GReddy or VAFC will definitely help with the mods you've got, but if you plan on taking the car further, you might as well look into the Hondata, Power FC, or AEM EMS. These three systems will not only allow you to extract the most power with what you've got, but they are an excellent foundation to build on for future upgrades (cams, boost, n2o, etc.).

In my opinion, the other systems listed don't even come close to the Hondata in flexibility. The VAFC is better than nothing, but you cannot adjust fueling without affecting timing with it because it manipulates the map input signal. You must be able to manipulate fuel calibration and ignition timing independently if you want to get a serious tune going.

Exactly, hope you're not trying to scrimp on a boosted setup with a VAFC as "fuel management". The amount of timing under boost with an AFC hack setup makes me cringe. In the lower boost ranges(1~5lbs) you can be running as much as 40 degree's of timing advance, above that it tapers off to somewhere around 32-ish if you top out the MAP sensor at 11.5-ish PSI.....Which is still way to much timing for a street car on pump gas, or even high octane with pig rich tuning.
As always, I would consult with what your tuner is most comfortable with, hondata is quite the robust solution but requires several hundred dollars worth of add-ons to be "self-tunable."
