Default Do I have to Gap my spark plugs??

I just bought a new set of NGK zfr5j-11 spark plugs for my d16z6 and I was wondering if they come pre-gaped or if i have to gap them to what the manual says as the engine is stock. Is it ok to run platinum plugs with the 1992 d16z6??

any help is good

Also is there such thing as a performance distributer cap and Rotor?

You should always check the gap on plugs to make sure they are set to the correct spec. Platinum plugs will be fine.

With my experience with NGK, they are pretty close to the correct gap, but you should deffinately check the gap to be sure. Plantinum plugs will be fine, but won't be any better than the regular OEM copper plugs.

You can get MSD external coil and cap, but if you just have a stock D16z6 it is kind of pointless.

What are you expecting to get with these "mods"?

You don't gap platinum or iridium plugs.

It's ok to run platinum plugs with the d16z6 but I've heard they don't burn that well and your engine will feel like crap with them. You're better off with NGK or something else thats OEM, imo.

The platinum's do last longer as that is the main purpose for platinum plugs but regular spark plugs aren't that expensive. They run at like $2 a plug as platinum's are like triple the cost. You don't replace spark plugs that often anyway, so it's not critical to have platinum ones. It's really up to you though. I have not tried the platinum's so taking advice from me doesn't matter much.

I been throughout spark plugs, and trust when I say that they dont make a difference. Platinum's only last slightly longer than a copper plug, the best way to go is with a good stock plug, AC Delco, NGK, Champian, are all the same. And just a quick pointer for all of you NOS guys, Dont ever run a platinum plug with NOS, it causes severe detination. I guess it's ok if you have a thick wallet. But for example, Top Fuel Dragsters with 7000 hp use regular copper Champian plugs. The main reason I dont suggest Platinum is because they burn so much hotter, the combustion chamber in your engine is already extremely hot, more heat will only make it run worse, or even worse, damage it.
