The platinum's do last longer as that is the main purpose for platinum plugs but regular spark plugs aren't that expensive. They run at like $2 a plug as platinum's are like triple the cost. You don't replace spark plugs that often anyway, so it's not critical to have platinum ones. It's really up to you though. I have not tried the platinum's so taking advice from me doesn't matter much.
