Default engine swap questions

I have a d16z6 in a 95 civic lx sedan and its pretty much shot the shit and i'm looking at either rebulding that one or getting a new engine. I've been looking at the b16a1 or the zc. Now my questions are which options would be better or how complicated it would be to fit a new engine into my car. I'm kinda of a low cash man, so price plays a big part in my decisions. I would really like to get some input from people who really know what they're talking about because i'm very new at this. Any options i haven't thought of, or just any thoughts would be of great help. Thanks.

any B-series motor will fit in your current car. If you want to go cheap and fast, swap a B18b into your car, and turbo that bish. If you are REALLY strapped on cash, like me, look into a B18c1 or like you said a b16a2 from a 99-00 Civic SI. Both great motors with TONSSS of possibilites :thumbup:

cheapest motor is probably the 1st gen b16a or the ZC

best power to price ratio is the h22 but you will need know-how to do that and its not easy. it can get expensive if you have problems or arent good with your hands and imagination.

the b16a2 and b18c1 are the 2 most expensive options here, but everything bolts up for the most part.

i also recommend you get an OBD1 motor.

As far as all of that goes, I would say the easiest most efficient swap for the money would be a JDM B16a2 from the 92-95 civic SI-R. It is pretty much a complete bolt up, but you will still need a new mount kit. The reason I say a B16a2 is because it's OBD 1, with a Hyd. tranny. A B16a1 and ZC are both cable tranny's, so you would have to convert your car. You can get into a complete B16a2 swap with mounts and everything for around $2500 to $2800, or at least I could. But I know how and where to shop, if you have any questions, e me.

a b16a2 can't be jdm because it ends numerically, thats USDM spec.
the b16a2 is from 99-00 civic si (USDM) and is OBD2

the b16a1 im pretty sure is from 92-95 USDM civic hatchie's, si's and it was OBD1

there are 2 different b16a motors, the 1st gen VTEC motor, with a cable tranny, and the 2nd gen VTEC motor with a hydraulic tranny. pretty sure the latter is 160 HP while the cable tranny carries 150 HP and a different ECU.

I have a 91 hatch with a JDM B16A and it's got a cable tranny, PR3 ECU, and 160HP. I know for sure that the B16A1 is the USDM version of that, and it has less power. But I thought that the B16A2 was the version for the 92-95 civic's. Im not totally for sure on that one.

B16a2 = 99-00 Civic SI
