Default AEM Cold Air Intake Help!!

Hey I have a 99 Honda Civic HX, is that the same as EX?? Anyways I bought an Intake and I told the guy its for an HX and he gave me one that said for EX now I even made it clear to him that my car was an HX and so will that intake fit my car? Will that little black box come out so the filter can rest near the bumper?? Please help me!

no th HX is not the same as the Ex, i think the HX model has Vtec-E which is vtec(economy) and has around 117 hp. What kind of intake did you buy, a short ram or a cold air? Sounds like a cold air cause of the bumper fitting, yes the black box holding your OEM intake must be removed along with the OEM tube.

edit: saw the title

You see I have a short Ram Intake right now from Akimoto or whatever cuz wen I got the car it was already there. and so there is another black box near the bumper and headlight that needs to come off but it doesnt look like it can come off. I got a Cold Air Intake to replace the short ram intake I have now.

That's probably the stock airbox, in which case someone was just lazy and didn't take it out when they installed the cold air.

Does the throttle body sit vertical or horizontal?

The black box near the bumper you're speaking off sounds like the resonator. There's a big U shaped tube attached to it right? If so, then that's what it is and there are three bolts holding the whole assembly in place. Yes, this will need to come off to put the CAI on. And your intake system looks identical to the EX. It's the CX/DX/LX (d16y7) which have the downdraft t-body .
