My engine (d16y7) makes a slight.. well, its a funny noise... when i first start the car up.. the sound increases with RPM, so I figure its the valves. Can I just goto my local auto place (place that does tune up's and such) and ask them to repair it? What exactly has to be done and how much does it cost approx? Last place I went to charged me $210 for a tune up, i thought was outrageous but it wasn't my money so... anywho, im tired so if i dont make sence then sorry! :cheers:

Sounds like an air leak actually, After the engine gets warm it doesn't make the noise anymore... its funny cause one of my neighbors stopped me and told me my car sounds like it has an air leak. Ive looked around and felt around.. cant find an air leak.

 

what kind of intake to you have?

 

if it sounds like an air leek i would assume its your intake filter.. but if its valves then it would be a ticking noise

 

I put the old air filter back on, still sounds the same.. until the engine is warm it has.. yeah, a ticking sound. it increases with rpm..
