I would also think that just taking off the resonators and other useless crap would function well enought.
removing the resonators doesn't really give u any power. u might get 1-2 horses at the top and lose 1-2 at the mid or low.

Removing the resonator on a Type-R nets a LOSS of 3 to 6 whp.

I still prefer CAIs but my intake of choice is the Comptech Icebox.

Type R's resonator is different than the other models. IIRC, you draw air from the wheel well. GSRs and LSs have a snorkel from the resonator back up into the engine bay next to the airbox.

You are correct but these are all things that need to be considered. an ITR makes 3-4 hp with a CAI over it's improved resonator design. The AEM and Icemans I have dyno'd on B18C1's make about 8-10 whp. Just things to consider.

And IIRC they (GSR/RS/LS) are actually pulling their air for directly behind the ABS (Assuming they have ABS)

One thing to consider is that every 5° F rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1% and the less dense the air, the less fuel in the mixture, the less power....So it theoretically makes sense to keep the intake temperature as low as possible, CAI is one way to do that.

According to AEM's website, a bypass valve cannot be installed on a V2, because it will "disrupt the tuning of the V2". Not trying to be a smart-*ss; just thought you might not be aware of this .
