What temperature was your engine when you tested it?

I ran the engine for 10-15 minutes until the fans came on and then I preformed the Compression Test.

The cars in the garage now as we speak so I'll let you know what they've found.

If they fix it and I've still got problems then I'll check axle.

What is MTF?

Manual transmission fluid?

Hey Dave, I just got back from my shop, and it turned out to be the driver side axle, for more info, check my post: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...hreadid=118828

Hope it solves your problem!

I don't think it's axle related because it goes and comes back whereas the axle wouldn't go.

I took it to a local garage and they've checked the valve clearances and such like and can't see anything wrong.

I'm not willing to take the head off until I can diagnose the problem. the garage said they didn't have time till next week.

They said that if I used injector cleaner then this should remove most of the carbon. I'm not convinced.

I've now taken it Honda and a local garage and they're both useless.

Looks like I'll have to take the head off myself. Is there anything weird about taking the head off a Prelude?

I've done it before on two other cars but not with DOHC and VTEC.

Torque settings on head bolts? Please help so that I don't mess it up.

Cheers for all your help by the way.

Dave

If you think it's carbon you could use some Seafoam on it. Either pull it into the engine via a vacuum line or put 10ccs in each cylinder directly.

You can pick it up at any NAPA.
