Without taking the engine apart? Probably not....
If it's hydrolocked the water most likely damaged some internals inside the engine. Those'll need to be replaced and any damage to the block will need to be repaired

so did it choke down before it died or died all at once? are you sure it sucked in water or could it have lost electrical power? what happens when you spin it over? if it clicks and or tries to spin for a second may be there is water in it. if so the only quick, easy thing to do is to remove all you plugs(spark) and try to spin it over. if the cyl.'s are full of water it should spit it out the plug holes. also when pulling out the plugs note what they look like, black, rusty, etc... if you do find water in cyl.'s you will need to change the oil of course, to make sure any water that got past the rings is removed before running engine.

If the cylinders are full of water and you turn it over you will break or bend your rods. Water will not compress so it will break things. Take out your plugs first and then try turning it over. How big of a puddle did you go through? I find it really strange that just going thru a puddle locked up your engine. Sound like you just got some water in your distibutor pop off the cap and see if there is any water in it. Really hard to say without more information. Like some of the previous guys said you need to be more specific. Like what happens when you turn it over etc.

the puddle was deep but i don't know how deep exactly. i have a CAI also. when i tried to start the car, it clicked and then a snap sound. that was on christmas day. today, i took out the spark plugs and tried to start the car, but nothing came out...i uninstalled my CAI and there was a little bit of water in the TB and in the intake Tube and Filter...three of the four plugs looked fine, but one looked like there was some kinda sludge. i tried to start the car and it actually turned over, but not completely.

thanks for helping me guys...

now when it tries to spin and quits does it act like the battery is weak or like it is locked up, also what does the oil look like?

if u found liquid water in the TB and plenum then you definitely hydrolocked your motor, looks like its only on 1 cylinder tho, i assume probably #4 since its closest to TB on intake mani.

yea i stopped to try and help a d00d with a civic and a swapped b motor the other day, he drove thru this huge puddle and he had a cai too, my short pipe didnt get touched.

he locked up his motor and i felt bad when i had to tell him that even tho i didnt know him, cause b swap is alot more $ than an H swap

u got lucky, normally u break valves when u lock up the engine u got really lucky it killed the engine quickly b4 it hurt the block by trying to compress water in the cylinder. but congrats on the good news
