ive been drag racing for awhile, never heard of scatter shield. what exactly is it? most everything is based on times, if you dont runs the time they cant say shit. that sorta why you see people leting off half way down the track, and running like 11.0 at 85 becuase they basically shut it down becuase of there lack of safefty equipment. that or there sand bagging so poeple dont know there times.

A scatter shield is a plate you bolt on around the bell housing to contain debris if the flywheel/clutch assembly were to suddenly come unbolted and rip through the transmission.

At the track here in Montgomery they could care less. I could run 8's and they wouldn't mess with me. But, there's a track about an hour away that will check this kind of stuff. They require the use of helmets in any car even if you run 22's. If you plan to put your car on their track you will wear a helmet. It goes downhill from there...

It also wouldn't hurt me to have one. It actually could be of some use if my flywheel blew up.

i live in DC, so there are numersou tracks with 2 hours of me. most are basically, ......................helmet required for 13.99 or lower, cage at 11.99 or faster, etc etc. there are other details, like "drive shaft loop required at 12.99 or faster" but most things like that arnt checker for unless you acutlly running in a class.

do yourself a favor and put an automatic in that thing, you go faster and wont break as much, lol.

As far as I know, NHRA requirements for a scatter shield start at 11.99 (IHRA is 11.49 I think). I've seen many low 12 second Hondas running without them.

If I'm going to do anything, I'm going to do it big. I expect the 12.7 to change a LOT before too long. We'll see.

a rear better be in that list of things. cause you know our 10 bolts are on borrowed time from the moment you start racing. more so for the ls1's.
