Ay guy, i'm really sorry to hear about your incident. Well, I can sympathize for you because i was given the same ticket (reckless driving)...but i wasn't doing jack shit. Racist frekaing cop pulls me over cause i was in an AUTOMATIC integra, when a stupid ricer civic with a tin can muffler flies by me, and the cop pulls us BOTH over for it....i ****ing hate the focker who got me a ticket. Ne how, to tell you the truth....and to not be bias regarding my advice, you should really try to take responsibility, but that doesn't mean walk into a death trap like all these people are saying. WHen i went to court, i had a choice between guilty, no contest, or not guilty. I obviously chose not guilty at he pre hearing (forgot what it's called, this happened a long time ago...it's the first court date you get after mailing in your ticket)....n e how, i pleaded not guilty, and then you get scheduled another court date...at that second court date, i had 2 options...one, fight against the state in hopes of winning...or a deferral process...i strongly ADVISE you to go with a deferral process (and you SHOULD be given the option considering your record is clean)...you have 1 year to stay clean, and the whole incident is off your record (but it costs anywhere from 150-350)...oh and you can get a public defender, don't get a lawyer, it's not worth it...you'll end up spending over 1 grand.

Stupid cop gave me so much attitude, i asked him what the problem was, and he made me get out of the car....it's cause i'm filipino damnit....T_T....I'm 17, a senior in highschool that atends college (w/ a 3.90 gpa)....i have two jobs (one is helping a friends parents with their store and ones with washington mutual)....and i've never been into any ish before......and STILL if i had decided to argue my case, i would've lost...how do i know this? because everyones right when they say,"if the cop comes in and testifies"...it's the cops word against yours....

hope i helped man....good luck =^_^=

yeah, insurance will go up a LOT after a reckless ticket. I had a friend who went through this. He fought the law, and the law won. The cop told his side of the story, my friend told his and presented witnesses; the judge didn't even hesitate before siding with the cop. However, my friend had a clean record... so they gave him 18 months to prove he could stay out of trouble... he had to pay about $250 in court fees. His insurance went up significantly - so much so he sold his car and got a job he could walk to. He only just now got another car (crappy Jetta), after like 3 years of not driving.

I hate to be grim, but your options are not good. Hey, at least it wasn't DUI/DWI or engaging in a speed contest...

Thanks
I am giving you useful advice you moronic waste of space. seriously be a man and take responsibility for your actions that you confess to doing. why the hell should we tell you how to get out of wen your just going to just do it again.
hard lesson learned is the best way to teach you a lesson instead of trying to find your way out of things thats your fault like an idiot.

A cop doesn't have to prove reckless driving, it's a judgement call on his part.

Fines and such will be up to the judge and how you present yourself to the judge will determine his attitude towards you. If you're defensive and act like a victim, he'll burn you down - suspension, fine, etc. If you're contrite and take your beating like a man, he'll probably let you off easy.

And yes, if there's a deferral option, take it, but don't screw up if you do. The courts don't look kindly on repeat offenders.

Your insurance is not affected if you do a derral process....THAT IS IF you keep a clean record for the entire duration of the deferral...and my fine was lowered to 150....

for not doing shit, i got....2 months of hell, plus a 150 dollar fine...and my mom was pissed off, but very supportive....

Just thinking of it makes me so angry....STUPID ASS PURPLE CIVIC WITH A 900" Muffler....god....
