Default pinstripe????

My girl has an 01' accord and it has this ugly black pinstripe. I was wondering if anyone knows easy and good way of removing it? Thanks for the help!

I left my car in the sun the majority of the day so that would get hot. Then I used my fingernail to take the pinstrip off, then I used googone to take the glue off the car. can't tell that I ever had a pinstrip.

leave it out in the sun for awhile let it get hot. then I got a platic cap off a power steering fluid bottle and gently scraped away. Check for any scratches being left on paint. Good luck Remember check for scratches if any appear stop.

first make sure if its painted on or if its a sticker/vinyl or if it's painted on. Cause if i's painted on then you can't remove it. But if it's just a stick on. Then you could leave it out in the hot sun or use a blow dryer to get the glue/sticky stuff nice and soft, so it would be easy to peel off. Just dont use anything hard to scrape it off. Just use your nails, to get it going.

Flexible plastic putty knives from Home Depot work wonders and if you get it hot enough but not so hot that it stretches and breaks... preferably with a heat gun then you can peel it of using the putty knife without leaving any residue behind. A good hair dryer will work if you don't have a heat gun.

If you see that it is leaving residue behind then it is not hot enough... heat it some more and try again. Pinstripe removal is a quick painless thing so long as you don't have to rub out a bunch of adhesive residue.

the best way to do this is get a rubber wheel from you local sherwin williams automotive paint store. the rubber wheel basically looks like a roller blade wheel but fits on any air tool. you can take the entire stripe off the car in about 5 mins. doesnt leave any scratches, and its easy on you

understand that the paint under the stripe will be darker than the rest of the car due to sun fading.

This is true about the paint but depending on how bad it is, you may be able to buff it out.

How does the rubber wheel work? is their heat involved? Do you just roll it over the stripe to lift it off? Do tell I gues I'd have to see one

You can pick one up pretty much anywhere. The one i used was like this 3m. Pretty much it uses the friction from the rubber wheel and that heats up the glue. It work and it isnt a pain at all. All you do is go back and forth on the stripe until its gone, do a little section at a time. wipe with a terry rag and thats it. here is a like to a pic of one on 3ms site. its called a "stripe off wheel".

That's cool as hell, I'd rather that than a heat gun any day. Is it a soft rubber... it almost looks like it will buff it out as you remove it... good find.
