Ps. Don't do it on a really hot engine or the cleaner will evaporate too quickly. You should be able to touch the engine with your hand. Good luck!

I'm giving the external link because of the fact theres too many pictures. I found my car had way to much oil and grease on the stupid thing so I ended up doing alot of elbow work. I also found that like 80% of won't be able to be cleaned unless the engine is out, thats just how dirty it was. But I guess after like 257,000km and nobody cleaning it and then my stupid idiot mistake of leaving off the oil cap, and I don't think I was the only one, there is grease and oil on there thats like 3" thick.

that can be taken a lot of diff ways. But I'm assuming you mean in regards to the amount of grime? Well I'll probably take it to a car wash and power clean it to get even more off.

Some of these degreasers, namely Simple Green, is known to stain aluminum when left on the surface for awhile. Just a heads up to not let it sit for awhile.

More advice: If you clean it everytime you was the car (just whiping it down with a damp rag and some Dawn) when you get it really clean it really helps. My mechanic also cleans out my engine bay. Really awesome service is all I have to say.

Good job, but in the pic, it doesn't look like the block is really cleaned at all, but I guess that's just the way the pic came out. Well If I were you, I would buy one of those big gallon of simple green stuff and follow the directions on how much to use. I think that will save you a LOT of money in the long run for cleaning engine bays. I think I used either a third or half of simple green and added the rest with water in this empty spray bottle I found. First I hosed it down a little by using the mist on the nozzle and then sprayed it with simple green. Then rinsed it all off with water on mist again and then sprayed simple green again. Then let it sit and brushed off the bigger gunks of oil build or or dirt and stuff with an old tooth brush and rinsed it all down. Then I used meguiars rubber and vinyl protectant on the hoses and turned on the engine and closed the hood. About 5 minutes later, I opened the hood and it was AWESOME. Here are some pics:
