Fantastic! You saved me a bundle. I wish I would have known that when my wifes 95 Odyssey did the same thing. It cost $800. :angry:

 

Anybody know where the MES connector is on a 93 civic? It doesn't seem to be by the driver side fuse box. There are a couple of yellow connectors (one actually hooked up to the fuse box and another random yellow one near it) but they do not look like the one pictured (it's not a 2 wire connector). I've checked google and other sources claim that the 92-93 civics has the MES at the far right edge of the dash (the passenger side). I did see a few connections, but the 2 wire connection is brown.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

According to the service manual, it should be visible once you remove the kick panel to expose the ECU. edit: which is below the glove box, at on the outer side.

 

I saw that. At the very far right corner below the glove box, there is a grey connector along with a brown (that are clicked together). The brown is a two-wire connector, but I'm not sure if that would be the MES connection (I can't seem to disconnect it). h:

I just hope that the homemade SCS connector that was shown here is the same one used as I had a pretty difficult time tracking one down. h:

I just tried the little connector that was on the far right side of the dash (below the glovebox) and it didn't work.

The home made SCS connector didn't work and when I did try something else, it didn't work as well, so the brown connector didn't work.

Does anybody else have any input or know where the MES connector is on a 92-93 civic (google results only show 94 on up model civics).

 

this is a really good post. may i also suggest that an even cheaper way for anyone that reads this post to use a paper clip it does the same exact thing. all your doing is give bridging the two pin connector by shorting it to ground.

 

All I've ever had to do is jumper one of the two connectors (one w/ brown wire I believe) on my '92 civic, for when you set the ignition timing.
I use one of those cheap little electrical connectors that come in a set, usually a variety of diff. types in the box. Looks like a steak fork or whatever w/ two prongs, you just twist the prongs w/ needle-nose pliers so it fits, and it works perfectly.
