Why are you wetsanding by hand though ? You should use a block on the flat surfaces and a flexi blok on the rounded edges .
Also - after using rubbing compound ( which should be done with a twisted wool pad for wet sanding scratches ) you should follow with a machine glaze or hand glaze or your paint is open to any and all elements .

I wasn't talking about wetsanding by hand. I was talking about buffing the compund by hand because i didn't think my drill was good enough, but according to the guys on hear it is. But honestly I didn't even know about the flexi block. I gotta go get one of those.

drills can work , but it needs to be variable speed , and up to about 2400 rpm and needs to have a side handle .
You also cant use it more than 30 minutes without a good 15-20 minutes in the fridge afterwards ( to cool down ) or it will die quickly .
they make 5/8x11 threaded adapters for 3,4" and 6" backing pads to be used with just about any hokk n loop pad out .
not a bad occasional alternative for a real orbital buffer / sander

Tip, warm water helps. you also should try "heavy duty" rubbing compound, followed by "microfinishing" compound. after those, polishing compounds as well as hand glaze help to make a nice finish.

The best stuff I have found for buffing out 2000grit sand marks is "3M Finesse it"..... This stuff is amazing and it works on everything...Paint, plastic, glass.
