forget masking them off. you might get overspray on your car and then you'll just be doing more work than required. i used a green scrubber pad to clean off my side moldings. my car is black so i painted them black. looks allot better. then i decided to paint my stock side skirts too. came out pretty good to me.

no actually. well i have a 96 hatch and i just took off the door panel inside, got little pliers and squeezed. the last clip you just have to slide the side molding to one side. unscrew plastic lining in the front wheel well and do the same. i guess the rear one's were a little harder. but still, all you have to do is pull the panel on the inside. it pops right off. take about 2 hours to paint (i use light coats for about the first 3 and then the last two are heavy coats and then a coat of clear coat)

i've seen how it comes out when you just mask off the whole car. i guess im picky cause i know the mistakes are there. kinda like how the paint doesnt go around the side molding. i can snap off some pics today if you want.

yah i know i'm anal about my diy projects as well. painting these will actually fall nicely in line with some other projects i have to do. i've got a lot of work to do on my door panels so those are coming off anyways, and i'm installing sidemarkers in the fenders so i'll be working that area too. only thing out of the way are the rear quarter. and i've already popped out those interior peices twice before. didn't totally pop them out but enough to get my hands back there.

so you didn't break any clips or anything. also, could you elaborate on what you meant by you have to slide the molding to one side. not sure what your talking about.

also, you might want more than one layer of clear coat. these can have a lot of hits on them(thats why they are there) and one layer of clear prolly will not hold up to some of the hits which means chipped paint. also with more clear you can get it to match the gloss of the rest of the car.. just some high grit sanding and some rubbing compound but i'm sure you already know all this.
pics would be cool too.

unsure if this question has been tackled yet , because I didnt read to the bottom, but no, you cant buy the clips from Honda, you need to buy the entire piece as it is kind of a one piece thing.
