no actually. well i have a 96 hatch and i just took off the door panel inside, got little pliers and squeezed. the last clip you just have to slide the side molding to one side. unscrew plastic lining in the front wheel well and do the same. i guess the rear one's were a little harder. but still, all you have to do is pull the panel on the inside. it pops right off. take about 2 hours to paint (i use light coats for about the first 3 and then the last two are heavy coats and then a coat of clear coat)

i've seen how it comes out when you just mask off the whole car. i guess im picky cause i know the mistakes are there. kinda like how the paint doesnt go around the side molding. i can snap off some pics today if you want.
