I've used rustoleum spray paint on aluminium mesh :rick: and it stuck fine. I just cleaned it up with a brush and sprayed on a couple of coats.

I scuffed mine up with scotch brite, wiped it down with degreaser, and sprayed thin coats of PPG epoxy primer. 2 years later and no problems. Clearcoat is not necessary unless you want it glossy.
