Default Windshield...

How hard is it to remove a windshield from one car and place it in another. Is this a difficult undertaking? Are there special tools required? Does anyone know the step by step procedure?

I ask because i have the opportunity to buy a car just like mine...mine has a cracked shield...if the car ( I haven't seen it yet) has a good windshield...I was thinking of swapping. The car I want to buy is $400...the new windshield is just under $300...so if I can swap the car almost pays for itself...I only have the money right now for one or the other.

HELP!

requires alot of prying of the seal and u have to glue it in and tape it in place until the seal is made, take a good 30 minutes with 2 ppl, the windshield is pretty heavy

Are there any special tools required? Anything that you would have to save to put back when you transfer the window? Do you guys think it's worth my while...because this will also turn inot a parts car for my car at the same time.

crxb16er when you say "glue" it in place...and tape it...what do u mean?

Thanks guys...I'm going to look at the car this week. Maybe if I can snap some pics I'll get your guy's opinion of whether it's worth $400.

Thanks again

OK, some may be confused here. Taking a Windshield out of a Honda without cracking it is almost impossible. Almost, so yes it is doable. Get a long razor blade handle and you can slowly cut the seal, from inside the vehicle. If done carefully and completely, you'll be able to lift the windshield out. You'll then need some suction cups (mine holds over 250lbs.) but the ones from autozone will work, just be careful.

Lift out the good windshield. Now take out your windshield however you please, cut down the old urethane seal to almost metal, take some urethane primer and apply it to the old seals. Spread the new windshield urethane onto the good windshield and set it in. Sounds easy, is hard. I put the new windshield in my ef hb, and it worked fine, just took a lot of careful effort, and the proper tools. goto www.windshield.net and you can get the tools needed, or at least see what you need.

I paid 136 for a new windshield installed after seeing it done I should have tried it myself but the price wasn't bad.
