Default Security

So as everyone already knows the Honda CRX is incredible easy to break into, I was just wondering if anyone had any good alternative security steps besides basic alarm systems. Afterall it gets old people always breaking in

if you have power door locks then you can just get the door handles from the back door of a sedan and remove your hatch keyhole

What are you looking for...to have the car immobilized, or just so people can't break in to steal stereo, etc.?

Default As for security

My biggest security issue with this era of civic/crx is simply the window to door molding. If you look at the window seal it doesn't track into the framing of the door. (That arc at the top where the window slides into) The seal isn't integral so the window is only closed into a rubber track. If you pry the rubber back then you can form a 2-4" gap at the top of the window which is plenty of room to reach into the cabin and flip the lock switch open.
Knowing this has saved me from multiple locksmith calls but also anyone with a brain can break into your car realitvely easily and without much fuss, just need 2 flat heads and it can be done in under a minute easily and with nearly no damage. So I don't keep anything important in my car. I take out my stereo faceplate. Until 2 years ago I was using one way screws like on security doors to mount my stereo into the center dash area. But after getting the stereo stolen anyway and seeing the resultant damage I use no screws only clips. Cost almost 200.00 to fix the damage from the theft for a 100.00 deck. My amp and speakers are bracketed with rivets and those special hex screws with the pin in the center so you need a hollow bit to take them out, a pair of pliers does the job but is time consuming.
Essentially My car isn't theft proof its resisistant as far as the high $$ items go and simple and easy to pevent damage for the cheap stuff.

As far as full on theft I have a switch spliced into my fuel pump hot wire coming from the ignition (the yellow wire) and a second switch into the clutch interlock forcing an open even with the pedal depressed unless its on. If someone knows what they are doing and wants the car well ain't nothing I can afford will stop them, I try to slow the process as muchas possible.

Yes I ramble hope this helps.

Yeah the window is easily accessible but the door locks are even easier all you have to do is push down through the window on the cable lever and the door is unlocked, ive down this with the simpliest devices even a nearby stick. I already have a killswitch and hoodlocks in place to keep them from driving or parting it out all i need is interal protection like stereo and speakers. Ive been broken into three times once when shit was really take but thats only cause i didnt replace anything. Will the power door motor really work from another sedan?

Default well what i did was...

i modded my clutch switch so that i have to shine a laser into a photo sensor, near the ignition on the accessory panel, while the clutch is pressed in, while turning the ignition. Also i have an alarm with an immobilizer. I was broken into, they took the system, but couldn't get the car to start. So i got the alarm to make it virtually joy ride proof.

...no, time consuming, yes. The parts cost me about 15-20 USD and took me about an hour to do. You need a photo sensor or solar panel, resistors (i forgot what ohm), a multimeter, a rotor tool (if you want to put it on your accessory panel), some wire, laser pointer, soldering iron. heat shrink casing, and a two-way switch, 9volt battery (if you use a photo sensor). I believe that is it. If ya want a detailed write up i can do so.

I got this idea from the laser speaker wire (Google search it) which actually worked for my 5.1 computer/media center, i have 6 lasers shooting across my ceiling. After my car was broken into the first time in Orlando, i decided to do this mod to my clutch switch.

Initially i used a photo sensor, but since i have an HF, my shift light relies on both clutch buttons, so i switched it to a solar panel . The reason for this is because a photo sensor needs to be powered to complete the circuit (I know i can use the car's power but there was a issue when the car tries to crank over initially = drop in voltage, maybe a capaciter would work?) , and a solar panel powers itself from the light when you shine it. The battery that i used for the photo sensor drained on me one day, and i could not start my car, freaked me out for about an hour until i realized it. I also added a switch to use once the car is running so that i can put it on a sort of manual override, to remedy my HF issue, because once the light is not shining, the circuit is broken and my HF issue would happen again. I can also use this mode if he solar panel were to fail so that my car can still start or if anyone needs to use my car for some reason (like a valet mode).

I am currently trying to figure out a way for the jerry rig to to automatically switch itself to normal mode so that i don't need a physical switch. Meaning so that once the car is running, i want it to bypass the solar panel until the car is turned off. The reason for this is because i don't want any thief to see the switch and then realize that that was the reason the car would not start.

any ideas?
