Default complicated?

...no, time consuming, yes. The parts cost me about 15-20 USD and took me about an hour to do. You need a photo sensor or solar panel, resistors (i forgot what ohm), a multimeter, a rotor tool (if you want to put it on your accessory panel), some wire, laser pointer, soldering iron. heat shrink casing, and a two-way switch, 9volt battery (if you use a photo sensor). I believe that is it. If ya want a detailed write up i can do so.

I got this idea from the laser speaker wire (Google search it) which actually worked for my 5.1 computer/media center, i have 6 lasers shooting across my ceiling. After my car was broken into the first time in Orlando, i decided to do this mod to my clutch switch.

Initially i used a photo sensor, but since i have an HF, my shift light relies on both clutch buttons, so i switched it to a solar panel . The reason for this is because a photo sensor needs to be powered to complete the circuit (I know i can use the car's power but there was a issue when the car tries to crank over initially = drop in voltage, maybe a capaciter would work?) , and a solar panel powers itself from the light when you shine it. The battery that i used for the photo sensor drained on me one day, and i could not start my car, freaked me out for about an hour until i realized it. I also added a switch to use once the car is running so that i can put it on a sort of manual override, to remedy my HF issue, because once the light is not shining, the circuit is broken and my HF issue would happen again. I can also use this mode if he solar panel were to fail so that my car can still start or if anyone needs to use my car for some reason (like a valet mode).

I am currently trying to figure out a way for the jerry rig to to automatically switch itself to normal mode so that i don't need a physical switch. Meaning so that once the car is running, i want it to bypass the solar panel until the car is turned off. The reason for this is because i don't want any thief to see the switch and then realize that that was the reason the car would not start.

any ideas?
