Default dash cluster lights not working now...

my 91 civic hatch has done it again...last winter had an intermittent issue w/ dash lights not working here & there. I'd hit a bump & they'd go on/off, etc. They'd be out for a week somtimes longer, then go back on and stay on for a day then be back out again. I know nothing about fixing cars so had a honda place look at it & they replaced the bulb said it was bad and lights worked good for a couple weeks-then out again! Then they miraculously worked all summer, until recently cooler evenings (60 degrees average) and now they went out again, been out for last 2 weeks-driving me crazy! Anything less than 75 degrees & they go out-that and bumps seem to be the determining factors whether they work??? How do I check the fuse for this? Or the ground? OR should I just have the whole gauge cluster replaced? Would that even fix it?

Sounds like a damaged connector in the dash.

Time to brake out the ole' multimeter and start probing wires and connectors.

is the fuse okay that goes to it, if it is check the back of the cluster, i have had mine ground out before when i had my dash out and they didnt work, i looked at the ribbon like connector on the back and it melted i had to scratch off 2 parts of metal and make a jumper over the connection that grounded out

Ok, easy is really good-since I know almost nothing about cars. But will you tell me how to check the switch and connection? Thanks!

check the wires and make shure the connections are good and that there are no breaks in the wire, as for the switch you can use a tester but i just found a friend with the same year and checked using his switch, wires and conectors were good and with new switch it worked fine, hopefully that is all you problem is
