Default abnormal RPMs & CEL (code 2)

Can anyone tell me the approx. RPMs for a '92 JDM b16a runnin' at 70mph? The other day, I was hitting 5250 at 70mph which I thought was a little high. Today, I'm around 4000 at 70mph. Is there a chart of some sort for this? CEL light came on around the same time that I noticed the high rev.

Also, I should mention that the CEL came on after a hard stoplight run with a newer Civic Si (smoked him even with a f'd 1st to 2nd shift). The ECU gave me a code 2 (O2 sensor). Today, with the RPMs running lower, the CEL went away.?!

I'm running on 17's and I think this will make a slight difference too for the speed/RPM ratio.

my b16a sits around 4500 at 70mph. if your clutch is sliping your revs would be higher.
o2 sensor wires are delicate and its possible you could have a bad connection, if its a wideband you might have just overheated the sensor a little.

I found that even though the CEL went away, I'm still getting the code from the ECU. I'm going to reset it today and I expect the code will go away. What exactly is "wideband"?

IF you have a lightened flywheel the RPM's go up, I have a 7.5lb flywheel and my rpm's went way up. Also, get those 17's off ur car and put some 15's on the car, u will get a accurate reading, and ur driveablity will go WAY WAY up.

What is it with people and 17's on CRX's?

A Wideband O2 Sensor measures Air/Fuel Much more closely, as in instead of jumping from 14 to 15, it will go 14.1, 14.2. It is for tuning purposes.

What? Crusing down the highway with the clutch fully engaged, a flywheel makes absolutely no difference in your rpms.

The clutch doesn't seem to be slipping and as far as I know the flywheel is OEM. I'm not sure about the o2 sensor though.

Easy on my 17's Redline, they came with the car. I drove a bone stock CRX for 15 years so this one was kinda fun with all the extras! I'll post pics when I get a chance now that it's all put back together.

Any other ideas on the RPMs? When it was running real high, I thought that maybe the tach was lying to me so I kicked it in the ass a little and heard the v-tech engage at 5500ish like normal. The next day when it seemed to be back to normal, the v-tech still kicked in at 5500ish.

Could the o2 sensor cause erratic RPMs?

omg...and your a senior member? is this your first b16 swap? yeah i thought so. the reason why b16s are quicker then other 1.6 or a little higher is because of the gearing. (not the only reason but just bear with me) quicker gearing means more time in the sweet spot. the sweet spot is higher revs. your 17s are only hurting you "high rpms" if the overall diameter of the rim tire combo is smaller then your stock factory rim tire combo. more then likely thay are 205 40 17...which is only slightly smaller....enough for a 5 mph change at 60 +.

your flywheel makes no diffrence at alll........if you dont like it...get a ls trasnny or even better yet ls final drive put into your b16 tranny. the rpms will only come down like 500 to 100 rpms in your fifth gear. think of it this way. your car redlines at 8200 so 4000 rpms is okay...since that is half. four cylinders just rev higher in general.....

Maybe we're going in the wrong direction here. I don't give a crap about 5mph at 60+. As far as I'm concerned, the wheels are just for looks and like I said, they came with the car.

The point of my post was that my RPMs shouldn't be at 5250 one day and 4000 the next day at THE SAME SPEED. I might be a noob to the b16 swap but I'm no idiot. I know that I should be in the 4000 range at 70mph - it's the inconsistancy that I can't explain.

And yeah, it's NOT the flywheel. Any other suggestions??
