CV Joint axle thing...
Alright as you can tell i'm not too mechanically incline.
My CV joint boot is ripped and there is play in the axle when I went for my Inspection they noticed this.
I called Advanced Auto and they said that there are two different kind for the 88 CRX Si.
One is 23 "splan" I don't know if that word is what he said cause he was a big time country boy and i had trouble understanding him.
The other is 26 "splan".
How do i know which i have?
Thanks.

LOL! "Splan" translates to "splines". Those are the lengthwise grooves in the axle which mate to lengthwise teeth in the transmission on one side and the hub/spindle on the other.
I would call a different shop. It sounds like Bubba's database was off or he didn't know how to read it.
Personally, I always deal with www.raxles.com in Gainesville, FL. When I lived there, I met Marty and toured his building. He's a great guy with a good-looking shop. I know a ton of folks who've used his halfshafts and they're always pleased with the product and the service.
Also-- I would recommend getting a whole, preassembled halfshaft rather than trying to rebuild the joint. Similar labor, similar cost, way more reliable (because you get two new joints). Hope that helps, -scott

Are you sure it was 23 and 26? I believe the CRX HF would have been the 23, and Si and DX the 26 because thats the way they are on the Civics (with HF being STD). However I always thought it was 20 splines for HF, 21 for DX/Si.
He definitly said 23 and 26. I told him I had an Si and he still gave me those two options.
I'll try another place today.
And the reason i'm just getting this part done and not replacing the whole axel is becuase i'm just trying to get it to pass State Inspection so i can get tags on it.
Thanks.
