LOL! "Splan" translates to "splines". Those are the lengthwise grooves in the axle which mate to lengthwise teeth in the transmission on one side and the hub/spindle on the other.

I would call a different shop. It sounds like Bubba's database was off or he didn't know how to read it.

Personally, I always deal with www.raxles.com in Gainesville, FL. When I lived there, I met Marty and toured his building. He's a great guy with a good-looking shop. I know a ton of folks who've used his halfshafts and they're always pleased with the product and the service.

Also-- I would recommend getting a whole, preassembled halfshaft rather than trying to rebuild the joint. Similar labor, similar cost, way more reliable (because you get two new joints). Hope that helps, -scott
