I think you need to get a VTEC Control Solenoid and wire it to your ECU with a VTEC harness.

RPM switch or really ghetto toggle switch, or VTEC controller.

An RPM switch is the cheapest way to do it with decent functionality.

You don't make one, you buy one.

lol, the rpm activated switch is the cheapest way to go but its complex in actually getting it to activate vtec, heres why. when the rpm's reach the desired point of activation it sends a -12 volt source to activate whatever, vtec requires a +12 volt signal minimum to activate. therefore an auto relay is required to convert the source. this process isnt complex but its not easy. i had my friend, who is an electrical engineer hook up mine. i have the same swap as you have, and my vtec runs strong starting at 4400 rpm. you can buy one at summet racing.com for like 50 bucks i think it was.

Do yourself a favor, buy a Rywire OBD0 to OBD1 harness ($190 for the Si to VTEC $300 for the DX to VTEC) and a P28 ECU... Run it the way Honda intended... Whats the point of swapping it if your gonna cheap out on the most important part of the swap? (VTEC, why else would u swap in a SOHC????)

you can also run the wires from the solenoid to a switch or a button... i had it like that on my first single cam... which was a dx block with a single cam vtec head...and a non-vtec ecu..i connected it to the button on my racing steering wheel and when the rpm was reasonable i would just hold the button in to engage vtec... after that i bought a p28 and rewired the vtec solenoid to the ecu... you dont have to buy the whole Si harness or whatever...but if you do want one u can buy the cheaper VX harness which comes already wired for VTEC... i have a couple laying around my garage... if u need one let me know....

If you don't realize how stupid that is, please don't type a response.

If you can't afford to do it right, don't bother swapping anything in the first place.
