Default stripped lug nut bolt question

Just stripped out my front lug nut bolt on the front of my 91 crx si. Not the lug nut, but the actual bolt that comes from the car. Question being, what will need replacing? Is it the whole front wheel bearing assembly? If so, should i go ahead and get both for the front? I obviously had it crossthreaded or something the last time i put it back on with my impact gun. Also, will it be safe to drive with just 3 lug nuts on the wheel until i can get it fixed? Thanks for any info.

O.K. One on the rear is stripped to. How do you take the studs out and where can you buy them? Thanks for any more info.

hammer time to get out stripped lugs...not too hard to take out and if i remember correctly (been years since i had to do a lug nut) you may not have to take off the rotor - this applies to the rear only (edit)

I found the studs and lug nuts at Autozone. I think the studds were 99 cents a piece and the lug nuts were like 1.49. Anyway, the rear was easy. Just take off the brake caliper cover, the brake caliper itself, then undo the big bolt that holds it on. It, the brake rotor along with the studs then slide off. You then knock out the stripped out stud with a large hammer or mallet. Then reassemble. The front is alot more difficult. After you take off the brake rotor, the studs will still not come out. If you try to knock it out, it will hit the assmebly and not come out. They are on the assembly that attaches to the shock, tie rod ends, etc. I simply put it all back together and got out the Dremel. I used the cutting tool thing to redo the threads. It took me about 15 minutes. I then just put a new lug nut on it and it works good enough for me until somebody can tell me how to get the thing off. I'm thinking you need some kind of a bearing puller thing or something, after you take the whole assembly off the car. Moral of the story, clean and blow with compressed air, all the dirt and crud out of the lug nuts and studs before you put the wheel back on. I also hit them with some lubricant also. The ones that messed up did not seem to be crossthreaded.

On the front, if it's anything like a 5G, the hub needs to be pressed apart.

That explains it. I will need to remove the whole assembly thing. Thanks. But i may not though because i got it fixed halfway with the ol trusty Dremel and a new lug nut. Now i'll know what to do when it strips completely out like the back one, which is easy to replace.

It probably does need to be pressed. Of course it's not a 92-95 civic, but I just had a tire place do it for me. They did it at the same time I got an alignment done, and it wasn't that much. I took them the stud which made it cheaper too.

And don't torque the hell out of your lug nuts. It just isn't cool.
JK. They don't have to be super-extremely-uber-tight.
