JK. They don't have to be super-extremely-uber-tight.
Your right. I've always stood on my wrench until they were tight or impacted them to tightly lately since now i have a nice new powerful impact gun. I had a motorcycle sprocket come loose from my little bike a long time ago, which left me stranded, when i was a kid. This i guess, made me tighten everything as tight as possible since, without breaking the bolt. And yes, i'm a proffesional at getting out broken bolts.

I can relate. I guess I had a similar experience or something...
Now when I put the wheels back on, I clean the studs off, blow out the lugnuts, and carefully tighten them just enough. I do not want to make that mistake twice.
