Default if you have the HF...

If you have the HF modle you have a 1.5 liter engine but if you are looking at the motor to the left of the oil dip stick slightly theres a plate facing you as you look at it...should have the engine type right there...its probably really dirty so your gonna need something to clean it up to read

In short, no, no it is not a good motor, if by good you mean powerful. The HFs get rediculous gas mileage--43/49 for your year. The stock D15B6 is SOHC 8-valve and gets something like 62 horsepower. Obviously, it's a commuter car. However, HFs are sometimes preferred for swaps 'cause of their weight--they lack several of the ammenities that the DX and Si versions of the rexes have, and they weigh a couple hundred pounds less as a result. You can probably find a replacement engine for a hundred bucks, put it in yourself, and you've got an ideal daily driver.

....

Or you could tear it out, throw in a B series, some fi and have some real fun >=]

Well for some insight on the B series engine go here and it will give you some knowledge on it http://web.tickle.com/tests/uiq/inde...=banemedia1&z=

It depends on what kind of b series engine you wanna get and how much are you really wanting to spend...They can range anywhere from $650 on up $2,000 if not more.

Now about the engine swap I am no one to tell you about that but I am pretty sure Kai or JaJe or one of the others would be able to give you some info on that!!

Hoped I helped!!!

Linnked did not work sorry but here is the info

Honda first stunned the world with the introduction of B16A in 1989. A mass-produced normally aspirated engine that hit the magic 100 hp/liter - 160 hp out of 1.6 liter of displacement. B16A has been the benchmark of 1.6 liter engines since then. As of today, you can pretty much classify B16A into four distinctive era. I am going to call them B16A G1, B16A G2, B16A G3, and B16B 98 SpecR.
B16A G1 - The original motor introduced in JDM 1989 Civic/CRX (EF body) and JDM 1989 Integra (DA body)
B16A G2 - From JDM 1992-1995 Civic (EG body)
B16A G3 - From JDM 1996+ Civic (EK body)
B16B - From the JDM 1997+ Civic Type-R

B16A's close DOHC VTEC sibling

B18C
B18C 96 spec.R
B18C 98 spec.R

** Block height measured with steel ruler from deck to bottom of oil pan rail. - Louis DeVirgilio
*** It seems that the above engines do not all have the same rocker arm ratio! That means the same cam will have different lift at valve depending on which rocker arm is used.

People always ask if parts are interchangeable between the above motors. The answer is yes on most parts (valves, valve springs, cams, rocker arm, crank, head). There are only few exceptions like all intake manifolds are interchangeable except B18C. The tranny's for the above motors will also bolt up to each other. But newer ones are hydralically operated while the older ones are cable.

It's worth it's own weight... in scrap aluminum. In other words, it's trash with virtually no good use besides propelling a super commuto-box car.

It's a newer, better series of engine, most of which can be swapped in with various degrees of difficulty. Do a search.

I want to see someone fire a massive shot of nitrous through an HF motor wth some ghetto rigged fuel compensator just to see how long it lasts. :chuckles:

Its a great motor if you care about fuel economy, which you should these days. Leave it the hell alone and just drive it. Mechanically it is a good reliable engine. If the car is just a toy for you, go ahead and drop in a B series or whatever. Otherwise I say drive it and love that little fuel miser engine.
