Personaly I would go with something better than mods on a stock. I am still learning a lot about engine swops, but with the money you spend to get more power, you could probly buy a si motor, And more then likely you are going to wont even more power, and you will have to get a different motor any way. my opion go big even if you have to wait a little longer for some cash.

Its a car for my brother and its funded by him and I want him to be able to do his build up step by step. If he gets a si engine all the boltons will be the same as the dx engine so he can shoot for that later. I just want him to get a feel for what we all love so much so he might want to continue to bigger better things.

well with my car in the 8th mile with full interior i ran a 10.7 and i have the bone stock dx 1.5 with intake, exhaust, and a ignition amplifier, i also use a hotter heat range plug for a cleaner better burn on fuel so that makes a little more power, and then its all about driving skills also. i am going to be doing the mpfi swap along with a tdo5 mitsu turbo. i am hoping with the right components i can make 300hp (without any knock) so the dx has potential you just have to know how to do it. get a hold of poontang he has alot of info on the dx turbo setup

Whoa this thread is still alive. My poor dx has been going through hell since I sold it to my bro. Dents dings an accident. It needs a fender now and a headlight and motor mounts and a bunch of stuff I can't think of right now. I'm gonna give him my si engine in the spring its only got about 72000 on it right now and it feels so good but my future plans call for a boosted z6 with a zc tranny and si final gear and fixing my poor rx7 so I can enjoy it on the weekends or sell it and build me a sweet rex.

I'd just put a ZC in it, it's cheap and effective.
