1. EVERYONE knows that the 5-speed SS trannies from Honda suck.

2. If you like your M3 tires, then why not buy that brand for your TL?

Default M3 tires are not all weather

Unfortunately in central Mass is can snow quite a bit.

My Toyo T1s are great summer tires that can go in the wet and dry with exceptional handling and braking.

However, they would not do very well in the snow or ice. This is OK in the winter since my M3 convertible stays inside. My version of snowtires is a 2001 Subaru Legacy

I will see how these Michelines do on the TL-s, and if they are not good enough in winter, I will consider the Michelin Alpines. The problem is that I will have to buy four wheels that can fit an Acura TL. What a pain.

The real insult is that the tires that came with the car are $200/each.

Your tires come with a warranty, I would have forced the issue with the tire dealership.

I made them replace my tires under warranty three times with my old Prelude. The tires came with a 40,000 warranty and I was getting about 10,000 miles before they went bald. I had to pay only 25% of the price since I had only gotten 25% usage from the tires.

Its an industry recognized problem with ALL Hondas, they have always come with undersized tires.

Default road damage

The problem with all tires and particularly low profile, is that the warrantees all specifically do not cover road hazards.

The problem was deemed by the tire store to be caused by a road hazard.

My wife finally hooked up with the proper person at Michelin, and he said that if we still had the tire he would give us 75-100 dollars towards the replacement. Unfortunately we no longer had it.

Default Bubble on Sidewall

I just had an experience with a bulge on a front tire - luckily (I guess) I had 25,000 miles on the tire. I was disappointed with the dealer's response, disappointed in Acura.

1. Dealers response was that I should argue with the tire mfg., but these are original equipment tires, and I did not buy the car in pieces and assemble it myself, I bought a complete package. Honda provided the engineering and specifications of the tires to the sedan - if there is an issue with the tires, I am ill equiped to effectively argue my case with the tire mfg..

2. I certainly did not realize the TL/S had an aggressive tire to the point that if I touch a curb or hit a normal size pot hole, it can wreck a tire. Maybe I am dreaming, but I believe the sales associate has an obligation to point out that certain features of this car require special care. Maybe I would have looked at the TL or maybe I would have been a more aware driver.

3. When I called the service dept about the bulge in the sidewall, they said "bring it in, if it is above the treadware indicator it will be replaced at no cost", (this is after I asked what costs I could be facing over the phone). Ever since they got their hands on my car, all I have heard is the sidewall bulge is NEVER a defect in the tire, it is always caused by hitting a curb or pothole - sounds like the old bait and switch from my honda dealer.

To make a long story short, I have loved the car up to this point, but now I feel like I am getting the same kind of treatment I would get if I had bought a Ford or Chevy. Color me disappointed.

I don't get why you are blaming Acura for your tire problem? For there to be a bulge, there has to be a significant impact to either a curb or a pot hole, or else it would not had lasted 25K miles on your car.

Also, you did not know the TL-S had an aggressive tire? What do you think the S on the TL stands for? Of course, if they put some grandpa tires on it, you would be complaining how the car sucks when cornering and such.

If you feel that you were cheated because your tire had a bulge, then contact the tire manufacturer and complain to them. This is a wear and tear item, Acura is not going to warranty it unless it was a defect, which this is not.

Take some responsibility. If you hit a curb and/or big pot hole, suck it up and pay for a new tire.
