Alpine CDA-7995...
Does the Alpine CDA-7995 head unit selling for $361 (shipped) sound like a good deal? Should I look elsewhere, or for a different head unit entirely? Thanks for all your help!
Thanks! I saw they added an internal amp on this model. I think I probabaly should look into this head unit.
Am I correct in saying that the RMS power of the amp and speakers should match up? I am looking into putting Polk components in the front of my car, and Cerwin Vegas in the back. The only problem (is it a problem?) is that the CV's are rated at 60 W, and the Polks are rated at 100 W. 60 W falls within the range of the Polk, so am I ok, or would you recommend a different combination of speakers? Thanks again for all your help!

You want to give your speakers adequate power. The speakers you are talking about will play with no matter what power you give them. However, the more power you give them, the better and more full they will sound.
Tha Alpine deck is listed as 60x4 max power. The RMS power (actual continuos power) will actually be closer to the 25-30 watts.
You'll still be underpowering them either way.
Is it possible for you to go to a shop that has what you want and listen to each set of speakers being powered by an Alpine deck??? That would determine which set sounds better...

I've got the 9813 and the only thing I listen to are mp3 cds. Works great for me. If you're looking for more watts later on, note that the Alpine's have 3 sets of 4 V preamp outs, so you could easily run your front speakers off an amp if you want. The internal amp for the HU works well and the internal crossovers help out a lot.
...and if you are powering your main speakers with the deck, be sure to follow the instructions and run a heavy power wire from the battery... 10 gauge is fine, and also find a good ground point in the dash... some thick metal... dont use the wirring from the car for power and ground. The Red "accessory" wire CAN be connected to the cars harness however.
