I've got the 9813 and the only thing I listen to are mp3 cds. Works great for me. If you're looking for more watts later on, note that the Alpine's have 3 sets of 4 V preamp outs, so you could easily run your front speakers off an amp if you want. The internal amp for the HU works well and the internal crossovers help out a lot.
