what the difference between 12 wire and 7 wire harnesses??? i dont plan on getting an amp or anything

well basically those wires are used for other options. So depending on the unit u get, some wires may not even be used like vehicle phone or amp/equilizer etc...

the basic 9 wires are:
12V constant power
12V switched power
chassis ground
power antenna turn-on
dimmer
left front speaker +/-
right front speaker +/-
left rear speaker +/-
right rear speaker +/-
