I have the Alpine changer mounted in the trunk connected to the stock head unit. I like it, and whoever said there are wires running all over, there is ONE wire, and it is completely inconspicuous.
FYI, on the 96-98's, if you remove the stock deck, either your keyless entry won't work and/or the dome light will no longer turn on when you unlock the doors. I guess it doesn't make a difference if you have DX. Otherwise, you will have to hide the OEM headunit inside the dash somewhere to retain these functions.
