Sorry, I forgot about that post, I thought you were talking about the Symmetry.

I still think that you would be better porting the JL's. I thought that you were really happy with them sealed...why the change?

 

Well 4 reason! 1 This box is sicko, it has a black light and a mirror. This will look so sweet with the W3's since they have JL in white on them! 2 pluss then my subs are protected from all kinds of stuff hitting them. 3 It will hit alot harder! 4 its alot lighter... I also would like to go fast! The current box is heavier than sh1t!

 

IMO, an EQ should be the last thing you spend money on (for most systems). The $200 can be put to better use elsewhere in the system, maybe part of it going to sound deadening to prevet rattling, etc...or maybe put toward better speakers - you get my drift.

 

My Rebuttals:

1. You are trying to listen with your eyes, not your ears...that's a big mistake. You can make a sealed or ported box look just as cool as that one.

2. Get some grilles, or fabricate some, you can get really creative here.

3. It probably won't...more likely then not that box is totally wrong.

4. If it's lighter, it's probably made of particle board...that should be avoided like the plague...typically, a bandpass enclosure is by far the largest system that you can build....the larger the system, the heavier the box should be.

You invested in some good car audio gear, don't waste that investment by putting it in a crappy install.

 

i agree that a symmetry epx2 is hard to use, but i've seen it used to perfection. expensive. thats why i don't got one . i got an audiocontrol epicenter for my sub and its works great.

anyways, i agree eqs should be bought last, but everygood install should have one. u gots subs i believe, so next u should get a good amp (no crap pyramid or jensen crap), good wires, sound damp ur trunk, nice components, nice mid, good HU, then a cap or eq. eqs and caps are usually last.

if u want something for ur subs, get a bass cube, from phoenix gold.

also, bandpass, throw it in the garbage, especially those already been made for universal fit crap. if u want to do it right, then go build one or go to a audio store and build one for ur subs. plus why bandpass?? go with ported.... jl w3v2 are alrite subs and would pound if u give it enough power.

and ur afraid that ur subs might hit stuff?? what u got in ur trunk, rocks?? i left my idmax in my trunk unprotected and nothing, get ur box bolted down, and do'nt put rocks in ur trunk and u'll be fine.

Here is what I have so far dude... 2 12" JL W3V2's a JL 500/1 monoblock amp and a JL 300/4 amp a pair of JL 6X9's a pair of JL 6.5's a pair of JL tweeters and a pair of JL crossovers... A rockford fosgate 1 ferad power cap and a sick ass sony deck. I have a nice box me and my brother made. I just want to make another one I guess! Every one I have talked to has said NO dont put your subs in that **** box! so im gonna make another one! not yet thoe.
