Well Will... I find the band pass boxes (espacialy the one im getting) to be verry BOOMY, but not so clean... From what I understand (and as bass mechanic will tell you) thats not much... A sealed box sounds cleaner, but a ported box is louder! A band pass box just hits super hard! But thw W3's are realy clean sounding subs, so it should hit realy hard and sound fairly clean if its a big enoughf space Im not sure, because I know the area between the subs is important to. I know for a damn fact the ported side isnt 1.75 cubic feet thoe! So if te mid section were the speakers faces are makes up for the rest it will be buitifull!

i cant tell you off hand the space requirements for a JL sub in a bandpass but i will say that of the Band pass boxes i have made with JL subs they dont work too good. the reason is because they have too small of a voice coil. i have easily burnt up JL subs running less than 1/2 their rated power.
this is the reason my subs have 3" diameter voice coils and will handel 1000 watts . i had to make them extra beefy to handel the BP box.

and for what it is worth anything you put in a premade bandpass box is going to sound like total crap. in order to even hope to have anything that resembles good sound quality the sub and box have to be specifically designed for each other. but when you match them up in this way. the results are unlike anything you have ever heard.

for WIW the box you asked about i can guarentee you sounds like crap. i know this because the ports are not even close to being tuned right. i have been doing this long enough to know just by looking at them ther diameter and length is not even close to tuned right. also it seems they use the exact same ports in all their boxes which would lead me to belive the same holds true for all their boxes. including the ported ones.
it really sucks because a ciustomer will put a good sub in there and after they hear it they will likely belive the subs are crap because they sound horrible when in fact they might actually be a good sub in a bad box.
remember this about caraudio, dont buy with your eyes, buy with your ears!

yes mine are 3" and it does make a big difference also i have a fill 2 inches of cone travel. also the length of the coil also helps to dissapate heat. JL rates their subs very well. they will take just about exactly what they rate them for.

my subs ratings are for the power mouse boxes i use them in. the wattage rating would be less in a sealed or ported box of average size. this is because my subs are effient and dont need all that many watts to reach full cone excursion in a larger box. for example my 10" subs are playing in .4 cu ft for the sealed side of the BP box. but im still hitting usable frequencies of 27 hz and still audiable bass output of 10 hz the reason i use 3" coils is because any other coil would fry in a box this small.

i have not read much on the new JL V2 subs yet but i was told or i heard someplace they were basically the same as the older versions but they just look a little different. i cant say for sure i could be wrong.
i think ill go to their website and gather some info so i have a better opinion on the subject.
