Of course hearing isn't linear either but if the sound is reproduced exactly how it was recorded then you ears should apply the same curve as if you heard the music live (assuming no change in the mixing) or am I mistaken? Just a thought.

I guess different kinds of music will emphasize different parts of the specturm and because different speakers will also emphasize different parts it stands to reason that when you put the two together some will sound better with certain types of music. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a system that sounds good on a variety of music.

You also have to take into account the install is a huge factor in how the speakers sound. Some may be designed to work one way and another manufacturer may design to work in a different environment/placement. The two different speakers may need different placements to get the most out of them. I apologize if this has gotten a bit off topic. Again these are just my thoughts.
no i think you're right it really does depend on types of music.. thanks you've given me alot of insight..

I will never buy a pioneer product.

My very good friend has gone through 2 very high-end pioneer units (860mp and 960mp), and they both crapped out on him within a year. The pioneers had many RCA issues and mechanical issues.

they were also terrible with customer service. It took him almost 5 months to get his 860 repaired, and when he got it back, it had the exact same issues as when he sent it out.

Personally, I'd say go alpine. If and iPod interface is what you crave (i will simply never understand this craze), than I hear the new Fullspeed connection is the best.

But, why do you need an ipod interface on your HU? It is much simpler (and cheaper) to just plug into the AUX input and control everything off your iPod.

wierd... I've had 3 pioneer head units, one was lost after I gave it to my friend, at with point it was 4 years old and had never had a problem, I have one that's 5 years old that just started not ejecting CD's this year, and I have 1 that's about 2 years old that once again has never had a problem...
