Well you would never want to install a remote start setup for an automatic without adding some way of insuring it is in neutral. I certainly know better than that. But the better way to make sure you don't have a problem is to get one that is setup for a manual in the first place. I've been doing a lot of research and there are quite a few out there that are setup for it.

After researching, I've found a few units (remote start only) that are around $100 that include a 2 way remote with the LCD screen. The clutch bypass is part of the deal when you get one that is setup for a manual so that's no sweat.

It also gives off a warning at first if someone bumps your and will let you know of the warning, and if it's bumped a second time, it'll go into full siron.

Pretty nice, and with planning on switching to a manual, I'd hate to loose it... and, ya, I figured there would have to be a way to get around it on a manual, but a couple people told me there's NO WAY to do it.
I think that you could probably figure something out with what you have but honestly you'd probably be better off getting one that is setup for a manual from what I've seen.

thats cool. just so you know, almost all automatics will NOT start if they are left in a drive gear or reverse. all i was saying is just make sure its not in gear cuz most ppl place their car in first or reverse when parking. i have seen someones car jump into another car before cuz of this.

the python 881xp is the same thing as viper 791xv. the vipers price point was the same when Circuit City had it. the alarms are identical - its the a product packaging that is different. i used to install these things at Circuit City and now do them independently.

I wasn't very clear on my post. What I meant was that you wouldn't want to install a system that is designed only for an automatic vehicle into a vehicle with a manual. I was tired when I wrote that.

As for leaving the car in gear, the systems setup for a manual will not allow you to do that. You must have the car running while you put it in "Remote Start Mode" and then it stays running until you exit the vehicle. It must obviously be in neutral if you can exit the vehicle with it running. Then if a door is opened before it is remotely started, it exits that mode and will not activate.

I have the 791xv and I just short run my car everytime I get out of it. Thanks for clearing that up about Python and Viper VPUPPY, I love when people think there is some sort of difference. I have people come in all the time asking for Python alarms, I try to explain to them that Viper alarms are the same thing. The remotes look a little bit different, thats it.

Werd. Those advertising ppl at DEI have definitely worked their magic. Speaking remotes, my 791 remote is crapping out after ~1.5 years. Time to get a new one.
