head unit keeps cutting off

this is WiLL...

on your amp there should be a light that indicates if it is in protection mode. when the amp goes into protection mode, its usually something wrong with the power supply....

it usually turns off, then back on.....

so check for that light.

what he said. all reputable newer amps have the protection feature. anything from a bad ground to your speaker wires being shorted together could cause it to go into protection.

well thanks for all the help guys.. i went to autozone and got my battery tested like someone here suggested, it turned out my battery was the problem the whole time so i replaced it today now everything works great:thumbup:

If you're going to run your system off the battery with the engine off, get yourself a deep cycle battery. You'll easy empty out that new battery you got with the amp and headunit pulling all that power.
