Default Sound system and alternator

I have been having alternator problems due to my sound system. I dont have much in my car, but apparently it is too much for the car to handle. I have a 97 accord ex coupe. I have an alpine deck...400 watt amp...2 10" kicker subs...and a capacitor. I replaced my alternator in dec and I just had to get another one put in because the sound system killed the alternator. I was wondering if anyone had any alternative solutions so I could power my sound system and the car. I hav read about installing a second alternator in the car....anyone know anything about this?

no need for a 2 battery setup for 400 watts. I had over 1000 on my stock alt and it lasted (struggled but lasted). I upped it to a 135 amp alternator and have been going strong for over a year at 2000 watts. Get a new, heavy duty, high current alternator, its the only fix.

Amperage of the amps? Or at least the model numbers?

If anything get high output alternator. I would LOVE one. Do a search on "HO alternator" in this forum. Also there is a group buy on this other board. If you want more info, let me know.

It depends on the condition and size of your alternator now, and the power that the amp will draw.

What car and what amp are you planning on using?

if his alt goes out, then its his alt.. you can tell if you see any dimming in lights when the bass hits.. the cap is also putting stress on your alt because a cap is like a small battery.. once your car is on, the alt is whats running your car, not your battery.. i suggest getting a HO Alt, there is a groupbuy for them with a company called Exessive Amperage, they are really great and the person that makes the product really stands by what he makes. Our imports have weak alts, like 60 amps or so. i would prob get a 140-160amp. Also, upgrade to thicker wires for the battery. I hope this was helpful
